Elizabeth
A bubbly 3 years old girl from the central coast, Elizabeth, Lizzie to her friends, was diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis when she was 6 weeks old.
CF attacks the lungs and digestive system from birth. In the digestive system, it affects the pancreas leading to poor absorption of foods and growth failure. In older patients, CF can also lead to diseases such as diabetes, cirrhosis of the liver and osteoporosis. Treatment is a life-long partnership between parents and their children and specialist CF health care teams.
Lizzie's daily treatment includes physio, enzymes with food, vitamins & antibiotics as required, extra salt and a high fat diet. She has had 2 stays in hospital for low salt and infection in her short 3 years.
Lizzie is a happy, friendly and funny girl, mum & dad think they are very lucky to have her in their lives. Lizzie is happy to do her physio and take her enzymes. She calls her enzymes 'beads' and tells everyone that her body does not make them. She reminds her mum & dad if they forget to give them to her.
Lizzies favourite thing at Hospital is that you get lots of toys to play with and ladies came around with craft activities. Friends came to visit her and the nurses are very nice.
She likes eating chippies, cakes, doughnuts and lamb cutlets.
Her family like to go on holidays, to the beach, eat out, catch up with friends and spend time with relatives. Lizzie likes swimming, dancing (ballet), playing and going to the park. She loves music, especially Pearl Jam, her dad's favourite band
Lizzie likes playing with her friends and learning her letters at school. Her favourite person is her 'mama' (grandma) because she misses her and loves coming to visit from Queensland.
Lizzie likes the idea of being a Hospital Hero because she will get to do fun things.
To the Woolies team she say thank you, I love shopping at Woolies with my mum & dad.
To the Hospital team she says 'thank you for making me better.' |
