Soft Plastics Recycling Program

Return your clean soft plastics in over 700 Woolworths stores

Give your soft plastics a second life! Return your clean and dry household soft plastics to dedicated recycling bins located at the front of over 700 participating stores.

In partnership with Soft Plastics Stewardship Australia (SPSA), your soft plastics will be recycled into new products such as building materials and food grade packaging, helping to create a circular economy.

Here's some tips on what you can and can't return

These bins are for household soft plastics that feature the "Check locally" Australasian Recycling Label (ARL) on pack. Please do not place these items in the bins: Glass, Plastic Containers, Plastic Bottles, Coffee cups, Cans, Compostable Bags, Food Waste, Paper & Cardboard.

Plastic bags, bread bags, chip bags, cereal liners and confectionary packaging.

What your recycled soft plastics become

Once processed by our recycling partners, soft plastics are transformed into a variety of products, including:

  • Saveboard, an alternative to plasterboard used for wall panelling, trolley bays, kickboards, internal wall lining and ceiling tiles (look for it in our renovated stores).
  • Food grade packaging, including selected Woolworths brand bread bags.
  • Replas products including store collection stands, fencing, posts, chairs and benches.
  • Alternative plastic essentials like recycled garbage bag liners.
