Java Moss is just about the easiest plant to grow besides algae. It does well under low lighting and requires very little maintenance, but it is rather slow growing. Healthy Java moss is a vibrant to deep green color and has a stringy appearance.

Java moss grows easily on many surfaces or can simply be used floating in an aquarium. Once it gets established, it provides an excellent place for fish and shrimp to take cover and for spawning fish to drop eggs or fry.
