Sweet and Gentle - Maxine Sullivan CD
Sweet and Gentle - Maxine Sullivan CD
Rare, three track single from iconic jazz vocalist Maxine Sullivan, originally released in 1956, featuring the tracks Im Coming Virginia, Sweet Mystery Of Life and St. Louis Blues. Original vinyl mix, newly remastered.Additional Info: Though the mid-1960s folk-pop group We Five broke up in 1967, their several subsequent reformations produced some intriguingly eclectic releases. This set of pop songs from the late 1960s includes a peppy cover of George Harrison's "Here Comes the Sun," an oddly raunchy version of Don Gibson's "Oh, Lonesome Me," a bluesy take on Dylan's "Tomorrow Is a Long Time," and, most authentically, their folky rendition of the Donovan title track, displaying both the band's versatility and its search for a meaningful musical direction.Specifics
