The jet-black Cape Buffalo is an imposing sight. The huge horns that sit curved on its forehead are especially impressive . Best not get into a fight! Most of the time the this buffalo is quite peaceful. Then it grazes at a leisurely pace, just enjoying its life on the African savannah.
The mighty Cape Buffalo raises its head and sniffs the air. With its black muzzle, it can sniff out exactly whether strangers are approaching the herd. The buffalo finds it hard to decide: can they keep on grazing or is an enemy closing in? If a strange buffalo tries to approach the herd, it doesn't miss a beat. At a gallop, he charges the uninvited guest, stopping just short of the stranger and lowers its big head. It snorts angrily, pawing at the ground. Its huge horns look so impressive that most intruders will trot off right away. All the better!
