Fit each perch to the cage using its base, positioning them at a few different heights so your birds can hop between them. Space them so birds have room to move and aren't perched directly above food or water bowls where droppings could fall in. Make sure each perch is firmly fixed before letting your birds use it, and check now and then that they remain secure. Wipe the perches down regularly to keep them clean.

Offering perches of slightly different positions and heights is better for birds' feet than having them stand on the same spot all the time, as constant pressure on one part of the foot can cause soreness over time. Placing a perch near a favourite spot, like by a mirror or feeder, encourages use.
