Breyer Horses Cloud Wild Stallion of the Rockies 30th Anniversary Traditional 1:9 Scale 10306
Cloud, a palomino Mustang whose life was chronicled in the 2001 Nature documentary Cloud: Wild Stallion of the Rockies, was born in the Pryor Mountains of Montana on May 29, 1995. Cloud's sire, Raven, was a dominant black stallion on the Arrowhead range, and his dam, Phoenix, was a young mare who passed along her rare palomino color to her colt. They were part of a small band of wild horses with proven genetic links to Spanish and Iberian horses.
Discovered mere hours after his birth by Emmy Award-winning filmmaker Ginger Kathrens, Cloud's adventures were recounted by Kathrens in a total of three popular documentaries and books. The chronicles of Cloud and his family highlight the perils and controversies facing wild horses in the United States, and led Kathrens to found The Cloud Foundation, which advocates for the protection and preservation of wild horses and burros. In 2011, Congress declared Cloud an ambassador for all wild horses in the American West.
Cloud was rounded up several times by the Bureau of Land Management, but was repeatedly returned to the Pryor Mountains in hopes that he would pass on his rare color and contribute to the genetic diversity of the isolated herd. Over two decades Cloud sired multiple offspring, including a line that shares his palomino color: his dark palomino son Bolder, his look-alike daughter Encore, and his grandson Echo. Cloud disappeared in late 2016 and, despite great efforts to locate him, has not been seen since - he is now a legend of the Pryor Mountains and a symbol of America's wild spirit.
Breyer is honored to continue the legend of Cloud with this 30th Anniversary Edition!
