Daintree Estates Australian Grown Roasted Cocoa Shell Tea
Each 400g bag makes up to 160 cups of hot cocoa tea.
The other hot drink!
If you've never tried roasted cocoa shell tea before, you're in for a treat.
It's refreshingly tasty and satisfying, easy and quick to prepare, and highly nutritious.
Our cocoa is grown by Aussie farmers in Far North Queensland near the ancient Daintree Rainforest. Colourful ripe cocoa pods are hand picked twice each year, and then split open to remove the seeds. The seeds (beans) are then fermented, sun dried, and roasted to perfection. The roasted cocoa beans are then winnowed to break the kernel into small pieces (nibs) ready for chocolate making, and to separate the outer shell 'flakes' which end up in our amazing Daintree Estates Cocoa Tea.
Roasted cocoa bean shell is naturally high in fibre, low in fat, gluten free and cholesterol free.
The nourishing hot drink
Cocoa was called the 'food of the gods' by the ancient Mayans and Aztecs for a very good reason. Today cocoa is widely recognised recognised as a superfood, loaded with powerful antioxidants and naturally high in minerals such as magnesium and potassium. Cocoa contains a natural stimulant called theobromine, which has a similar impact on alertness and stamina to caffeine, but is much gentler on the central nervous system and isn't addictive.
Warning: Theobromine in cocoa is toxic to dogs, cats and other animals so keep it away from your pets.
Instructions for preparation:
- Place Stainless Steel Tea Infuser in mug with one heaped teaspoon of Daintree Estates Cocoa Tea
- Pour in freshly boiled water
- Allow to soak or steep for 2-3 minutes before drinking removing the strainer
- Remember to say 'aaah' after each sip
One 400g bag can make up to 160 drinks depending on how intense you like your hot cocoa tea.
Used cocoa bean shell is naturally biodegradeable and provides excellent nutrients for your garden. Add it to your compost or toss it on your garden as a natural mulch.
Pro Tip! Grind Daintree Estates Cocoa Tea in a coffee or nut grinder to produce a rough powder. It will take up less space in your storage jar, and there will be more surface area for flavour release to boost the intensity of your hot cocoa tea.
Make it your own
We enjoy our hot Cocoa Tea daily. The Aztecs routinely drank their cocoa mixed with cinnamon and chilli. After tasting it that way, we can understand why! Experiment with your own personal blend using dried herbs and spices such as cinnamon, chilli flakes, dried orange peel, nutmeg, ginger powder or peppermint leaves.
Cocoa Tea is best enjoyed hot without milk or sugar. If you need it sweet, choose honey. If you like it stronger, just add more.
Ingredients: Australian Roasted Cocoa Bean Shell. Made in Australia from 100% Australian ingredients.

How soon will I get my order from Chocolate Hunters
We know you'll be keen to get your order as quickly as possible. Orders are typically shipped within 1-2 business days depending on stock availability. If there is likely to be any delay in dispatch, we will let you know via email. Fortunately that doesn't happen often. How long your order takes to reach the address you provide for delivery will depend on how far away from Melbourne it is. All orders are dispatched from Melbourne, Victoria, Australia.
PO Boxes
Yes, we deliver non-trade orders to Post Office Boxes.
Since many Parcel Lockers are outdoors and at greater risk of heat, we won't deliver to Parcel Lockers.
What if I'm not home for the delivery?
If you're expecting a delivery and have to go out, we recommend leaving a small note on your front door to instruct the courier where they can securely leave your order in the shade. It's important you do not allow chocolate to be left unattended in direct sun as it may melt. Whilst we mark chocolate orders with a warning to avoid direct sunlight, we're unable to control individual delivery drivers and although most do pay attention, unfortunately we cannot guarantee they always will.
We understand that sometimes things don't quite go as intended and you might wish to return something you bought from us. As our products are perishable foods, we do not accept returns or offer refunds or exchanges just because you changed your mind, regretted spending the money or found the same or similar products somewhere else at a lower price.
We do expect that you receive exactly what you ordered, so if you've received something different to what you ordered, please lt us know as quickly as possible so we can set it right.
Chocolate melts
Everybody knows chocolate is made to melt. So delivering our chocolate products to you without heat affecting it during the warmer months can be a bit tricky.
Although we pack every order with materials intended to help insulate against significant temperature fluctuations whilst in transit, we cannot guarantee that deliveries of our chocolate products will not be affected by heat in the warmer months, especially in summer. Whilst our contracted courier network is generally okay for transporting chocolate, when it's left at your premises unattended in a sunny spot or left outside on a hot day, there's a high chance it could melt.
It's the cocoa fat that melts and it starts melting around 28-30C. You may not qualify for a refund or replacement just because you received heat affected chocolate. So if the weather in your area is warm, there's a few things we can suggest to reduce the risk of receiving chocolate that has melted...
Don't place an order when the forecast temperature in your area for the coming week is over 25C. Wait till the forecast temperatures are lower and order then.
Stock up with your favourite chocolate from our range in the cooler months so you can avoid ordering in summer.
Provide a delivery address where you know somebody will be present to receive the delivery in person so chocolate is not left unattended outside.
The chocolate I received doesn't look right
If you've received chocolate from Cocoa Hunters which has white blotches (heat bloom) on the surface or is a distorted shape, it's been exposed to temperatures over 28C. How long it's exposed to heat will impact whether the shape is distorted, or the surface is merely discoloured (heat bloom).
Chocolate that has melted and then resolidified is perfectly okay to eat, and will still taste exactly the same although the texture might feel a little different until it's completely melted again in your mouth. So if you don't mind how it looks, it's perfectly safe to eat and you'll still enjoy the wonderful flavours of our Australian chocolate.
Can I return heat affected chocolate for an exchange?
Yes, but only if the temperature in your location published by the Australian Bureau of Meteorology on the day of delivery is 25C or lower. Where we can confirm this, we will happily exchange heat affected chocolate once you send it back to us. We will reimburse you for the cost of postage to send it back to us and will send the replacement chocolate to you at no extra charge.
If the temperature in your location published by the Australian Bureau of Meteorology on the day of delivery is higher than 25C, a replacement is not available, sorry. We strongly recommend you hold off ordering chocolate for delivery during the warmer months and instead buy it in-store. Consider stocking up during the cooler months so you don't need to order during summer.
You're protected
Our products come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. You are entitled to a replacement or refund for a major failure and compensation for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage. You are also entitled to have the goods repaired or replaced if the goods fail to be of acceptable quality and the failure does not amount to a major failure.
However you might not be entitled to receive a replacement or refund where you decide you don't like what you received, or it's been heat affected in line with the warnings shared in this policy.
