For stills and for videos this lens is a great performer, owing to the excellent autofocus motor that is driving the focus. As well as providing pinpoint accuracy, it is always fast and quick to achieve focus, which are all desirable features for shooting movies and for maintaining discretion when shooting live subjects.
Overall this lens has been built with care and love, both physically and optically. Sigma incorporated Thermally stable composite materials, which helps the lens retain a lightweight and compact size whilst remaining sturdy and durable. Optically Sigma has employed various lens elements that produce a high level of image quality and the reduction of any aberrations and distortions. Flare and ghosting have likewise been counteracted by the application of super multi-layer coating.
