About the Hippo Kiboko
The hippo Kiboko is a true water lover! During the day, she relaxes in the river with her friends, grazing along the riverbed - did you know a hippo can hold its breath for almost five minutes? At night, she carefully wanders the savanna, munching on grass. Even though she looks big and strong, she's actually quite shy. Some say hippos are Africa's most dangerous mammals, but only when their young are threatened - deep down, Kiboko has a heart as big as the savanna.
Kiboko, whose name means "hippo" in Swahili, loves to remind young explorers how important rivers, lakes, and oceans are for both animals and people. Her tip is simple: never litter in water. That way, Kiboko and her friends can enjoy clean, safe homes - and you'll have a much nicer swim too!
