Will I get all my Everyday Rewards points and boosters if I use a Scan&Go Trolley?

Yes! You'll collect points and any boosters at the self-serve checkout. You won’t need to re-scan your card at the self-serve checkout, as you already did it at the beginning of your Scan&Go Trolley shop.

How do I scan fruit & veg?

Weigh them using the smart scales in the fruit & veg section. Then simply scan the smart scale’s on-screen barcode with the device’s built-in retractable scanner.

Fruit and veg sold by quantity (like avocados): Use the smart scales to add the quantity, and then scan the barcode. Or simply scan the barcode on the item/shelf ticket.

Pre-packaged items: Scan the barcode on the package/shelf ticket with the Scan&Go Trolley scanner.

What do I do if a scanned item is not appearing in my cart?

If an item isn’t scanning, you can manually enter a barcode using the button on the bottom-left of the screen.

Some items require help from a team member. They will display a warning after being scanned, but may not appear in the list of items in your cart. Hang onto this item, and you’ll be sent to self-serve checkout to finish your shop where a team member will help.

Is there anything I cannot buy using a Scan&Go Trolley?

Some items require a quick verification from a team member at self-serve checkout. You'll be notified during scanning, and once you finish your shop you'll be directed to the self-serve checkout where a friendly team member will assist you.

Some of these items include:

  • Gift cards
  • Sodastream - You can have your discount applied for returning an empty cylinder
  • Age-restricted items like knives, alcohol, matches and lighters
  • Quantity-restricted items like pain killers

Note: Tobacco products must be purchased separately at the service desk.

How do I remove an item?

Simply press the bin icon or decrease the quantity to zero using the quantity selector. Make sure you pop the physical item back on the shelf.

When will other functionality be added (like Lists and search)?

Our team is actively working on developing new features, and we can't wait to share them with you as soon as they're ready.

In the meantime, we appreciate your patience and feedback, as it helps us prioritise features that will be most valuable.

What payment methods are available on device?

We accept whole payments (Not split payments) made using contactless Visa, Mastercard, American Express of Eftpos cards. You can pay using your contactless debit or credit card, or using accepted cards in your digital wallet like Apply Pay, Google Pay or Samsung Pay.

What is a scan check?

Just a quick double check!

Occasionally, a team member may re-scan up to 5 of your items, which usually takes less than a minute.

Scan checks are a routine part of the Scan&Go service. These checks help:

Double-check accuracy: We want to make sure you're always charged correctly for your items.

Create a safe shopping environment: We're committed to preventing theft for everyone. These checks help us maintain a secure shopping experience for all our customers.

After the scan check, you can purchase any mis-scanned items.

Are there cameras in Scan&Go Trolley?

Yes, there are cameras on the device that are in use. The cameras face down into the basket of the trolley and are used to monitor items being placed into and removed from the trolley. This helps to improve scanning accuracy. Once a Scan&Go transaction is complete, all footage is permanently deleted from the device.

How do I cancel my Scan&Go Trolley shop?

To cancel your shop simply press the 'More' button and select 'Cancel shop.' Then let a team member know so they can return the device for you.

How can I get help, report an issue or help improve the experience?

Still getting the hang of a Scan&Go Trolley? No worries — our friendly team members are happy to help you in store.

From time to time, we'll email you a survey to complete about your Scan&Go Trolley experience.
