- 500grams lamb
- 1/2tablespoons chilli powder
- 1/2tablespoons curry powder
- 2 1/2tablespoons coriander powder, roasted
- 3 cardamom pods, cracked
- 1 stick cinnamon
- 1/2teaspoons turmeric
- 1teaspoons garlic paste
- 1teaspoons ginger paste
- 1 large onions, finely chopped
- 1 1/2 sprig curry leaves
- 200milliliter lite coconut milk
- 150milliliter sunflower oil
- 1 pinch salt (to taste)
- 1/2 lime juice
- 1 red large capsicum
- 1 green large capsicum
- 150milliliter water
Description
A delicious, flavourful and spicy South Asian lamb curry, that goes well with rice, flat bread or bread. Ideal for a cosy family dinner, on a chilly evening!
Instruction tip
You can add a side of a fresh green salad if you wish.
Method
Step 1 of 9
Cut the meat into small pieces and add the chilli powder, turmeric and salt.

Mix all together and keep aside to marinate for at least 1 hour, or overnight in the fridge.

Heat (medium heat) oil in a pan, add the cardamom pods and the cinnamon stick.

Add the marinated lamb, curry powder, coriander powder, coconut milk, and water. Stir until they are mixed well.

Cover and cook for 30 minutes, or until the gravy thickens and the meat is tender.

Finally add curry leaves and turn off the heat.

Add lime juice, before serving.

Then add the sliced onion, and cook until the onions are brown. Now add the ginger and garlic paste.

Slice up both the capsicums into small pieces (the size can be according to your preference), and add to the pan halfway through the cooking process.
